Five things you NEED to have in your kid’s party bag!
Who doesn’t love free things? As a kid, I loved getting the party bag on the way out. Now, as an adult, party favours are still a must-have! They are a great way to help your guests remember the event for years to come. Where adult party favours vary from event to event, kids party bags always have similar features. We have asked some children what they like receiving in party bags and posted a list below. Have a read of the list and comment on which item was your favourite as a child.
- Lollies and Chocolate 🍬🍫
This one is obvious! Children love receiving lollies and chocolate in their party bags. The best bags are the ones that have Cadbury Freddos (not that cheap stuff)! Some party bags are purely made up of chocolates and lollies. As a kid, I was completely on board with this. Nowadays not much has changed. Children still love opening up a party bag and seeing a Red Skin! A helpful tip is to take note of the allergies in the group. If a guest is allergic to certain foods make sure that you don’t put them in the party bag. Either buy chocolate and lollies they can eat, or if that is too hard, supplement the chocolate with other party bag elements.
- Bubbles 🛁
You can find small bottles of bubbles at your local dollar store. Bubbles are a great addition to your party bag because they are cheap, fun and small! When my daughter had her 6th birthday it was awesome to see all of her guests open up their bags and play with the bubbles. Remember, bubbles should only be put in party bags of kids aged 6-10. If they can’t hold a cup of water without spilling it, they can’t be entrusted with bubbles.
- Miniature Nail Polish 💅
You can buy packs of ten miniature nail polish at your local dollar or department store. Your girls will love finding miniature nail polish inside their party bags. Not only will it make them feel grown-up, but it will also be a fun activity they can complete at home with a supervising parent. I recommend putting tape around the lid to ensure that the children don’t open up the nail polish until they get home. Miniature nail polish is a fun activity that you can do with your daughter to teach them hand-eye coordination. Furthermore, your child will love choosing which friends match which colour and personalising the bags! The nail polish should only be given to children aged 8-14. This is because if it spills- it stains! Make sure that your child and their friends are clear not to open it without an adult present.
- A Toy Car 🚗
Hot wheels used to be all the rage when my son was growing up. The best party bags had a hot wheel’s car inside them! Nowadays, you can buy a toy car from your local department or dollar store in packs of five. Your son and his friends will love playing together and looking at each other cars. Unlike the other options, toy cars cannot be spilled or drunk by a child. Therefore, the recommended age is 2-10 years old.
- Miniature Rubik’s Cubes or Puzzle Game 🧩
Everyone loves a good puzzle game! Back in the day, Macdonald’s used to give out puzzle games in the happy meals. After years of horrible toys, they have finally gone back to the puzzle format. Clearly the company decided puzzle toys are superior! Your kids will love receiving puzzle toys in the party bags. They can race each other to see who finishes the puzzles first or have fun at home trying to complete it. Puzzle toys can be found in large packs at your local dollar store. The age recommendation is 5-12 years old!
