How to Host an Online ‘Zoom’ Party 🎈
We get it. COVID-19 has thrown a wrench into any future party plans. However, that doesn’t mean that anyone should miss out on celebrating a birthday, anniversary, graduation or special event. It is essential that we stay safe and stay at home. Luckily the internet is here to save us by allowing us to continue connecting with loved ones!
Our solution to cancelled party plans is to host an online ‘zoom’ party! How do you do that, you might ask? Well, have a read of our tips below.
- Send out invitations 💌
These may not be the ‘gold-trimmed’ printed invitations that you had planned, but we can still make the best of a bad situation! There are several ways of sending invitations that can vary by your preference. The first is a simple Facebook Messenger chat where you post the details. This is by far the easiest way to get the message out. The second way is to set up a Facebook event. This is also really simple but is a little fancier than sending a group text 😉. If you want to be even more extra, try an online invitation app! We recommend Paperless Post (Link is posted at the end of the article). It is quick to set up and sends professional invitations straight to your loved one’s inboxes. Make sure you include the date, time and dress code on the invite!
- Get drinks and snacks! 🥂🧁
Since everyone will be celebrating in different locations, it is essential to specify on the invitations to BYO drinks and snacks. I mean, if you could supply them, I am sure you would. But it is important that we all stay at home! We recommend ordering a savory and dessert hamper from Wild Cherry Events 😛. However, if you don’t live in our delivery locations, local take-a-way stores are still open and doing delivery!
- Prepare Party Games 🎮
Although pass the parcel may not be an option (don’t lie, we all miss playing it), you can still entertain your guests! How about playing online UNO or Scrabble? Nintendo recently released its Mario Kart app so all of your guests can link in! If those don’t tickle your fancy how about a drinking game like ‘never have I ever’ or classic truth or dare? The list is extensive! Pick a game to suit your event and personal style.
- Download the Zoom App 💙
Zoom is a video streaming app that makes it easy to connect with your friends and family! We have included links at the bottom of the article to both the Zoom website and the Zoom help centre. Although the website teaches it best, we would recommend using an iPad or Tablet and downloading the app! The controls on the iPad are easier to understand for non-tech savvy people (aka me) 😝. The second-best way to do it is on the computer. Zoom works on all devices so click the link below and give it a go!
- Get in the Party Mood 🥳
Now that you have everything set up for your party it is time to get excited! Pull out the old decoration kit and put up some streamers, blow up balloons, or even make a cake! Your party may not be in person, but it can still be memorable! Come into it with a positive attitude and enjoy the company of your friends! If all else fails, drink some champagne! 🍾
