Underrated Party Themes That Will Spice Up Your Next Event

We have all been to hundreds of Gatsby, fairy and cocktail parties. Whilst those themes are classics and will always be loved, what do you do when you get bored of throwing the same parties over and over again? Well the team at Wild Cherry Events have the solution for you! We got each of our team members to submit an unusual party theme and put the answers below. 1. Jungle Theme 🐅

This is the most common theme in our ‘unusual’ list. The best thing about this theme is that finding or making a costume is simple! Grab a cat ear headband from your local Kmart, wear all pink to be a flamingo, model a tropical shirt or even paint your face.

In terms of food, frogs in a pond (jelly with a Fredo frog in the centre), animal print cakes, or a ‘trapped in the jungle’ grill are perfect ideas to bring the jungle theme to life. This theme can be tailored to your budget. You could go as big as hiring a safari van or as small as a few vines to make a photobooth. The jungle theme is easy for your guests and easy for you!

2. Moustache Theme 👨‍🦰

I moustache you a question but I’ll shave with you later 😝.

This theme has one key ingredient: lots and lots of moustaches! Whether you print them out or buy them from the costume shop, you just need to have them everywhere. Every person should have their own moustache to model. You could even get your husband or dad to grow one out! In terms of food, as long as moustaches are involved it doesn’t matter! This theme can be thrown together last minute and is sure to give your guests a laugh!

3. Back to School Theme 🎒

Everyone has at least one of their old school uniforms tucked away in a closet. It is time to bring that out because we are going back to school for one night! If you don’t have a uniform, you could always go to your local Op Shop and buy one. Throw your hair up in ponytails, wear your socks to your knees and stare at the cutest boys/girls at the party!

For food, bring out some of the old school snacks that you miss. Sandwiches, Dunkaroos, Jumpies, jelly cups, red skins, meat pies from the canteen and more! Why not hire a locker for the night and use it as a photo booth? You could play truth or dare, talk about fond (or not so fond) memories, or dance to the tunes of your time! This theme always brings out some fun stories.

4. Twisted Cartoon Characters Party 😈

This theme is simple. Dress up as your favourite cartoon character and change one thing about them. You could be Ariel but with no hair, Popeye with no muscles, Mario but Australian, Elsa but with fire powers. The list is endless! This party will inspire creativity within your guests.

The food list is simple: anything you want, just make it look wacky. You could do a build your own sandwich-hero bar, have cupcakes with different cartoon faces on them, or even a lolly bar where you can mix different ‘characters together!’ Set up a photo booth with a plain background so that everyone’s costumes can shine! Remember to get a group photo!
