Party Idea: The Grand Ball
We have been discussing a lot of simple party themes in these blogs. It is true that a classic BBQ can be a lot of fun and easy to organise. However, every now and then you have to dress up! COVID-19 has caused people to get dressed up to take their bin out. Imagine how much fun a grand ball would be once this is all over! Have a read below of our tips for hosting a grand ball!
- Include the dress code on the invitation 👗
Everyone wants to feel like a princess or prince! There is nothing worse than turning up to a party and realising that you are under or overdressed. You would be surprised how many hosts forget to include a dress code! If you want to have a grand ball, you need to tell people to dress up to the extreme!
- Pick a venue with a big dance floor 💃
Even though dancing may not be your thing, it is basically required at a grand ball. You don’t need to teach everyone how to do the waltz, but a lot of guests will love getting their groove on! Getting dressed up means that girls will be in heels and dresses. Often, hosts forget that dresses can take up a lot of room on the dance floor. I went to an event where they didn’t take this into consideration and only a quarter of the guests could dance! Everyone should be able to dance together! So, take dress sizes and guest size into account.
- Bathroom Size 🧼
Once again, the girls have big dresses! If you pick a venue with a small bathroom it might be difficult for them to do their thing. Make sure the bathroom size is big enough to cater to your guests.
- Consider Food Options 🍤
If you remember watching Cinderella, at the grand ball there was no formal dinner. Instead, canapés were passed around whilst people focused on the dancing. However, if you were to go to a wedding reception, a sit-down meal often occurs, and dancing happens later in the evening. Decide whether you want a sit-down meal or canapés.
- Walk the Red Carpet 😍
A red carpet can make your guests feel special! If you want to be extra, have someone announce the names of guests when they arrive. A lot of companies (including Wild Cherry Events), hire out red carpets. A red carpet may be just what you need to take the night to a new level!
- Drink Station 🍷
I think this will be recommended in every blog but PLEASE have someone manning the drinks. You don’t want to deal with drunk friends on your special night. Make sure that everyone has a designated driver and your bartender puts limits on guests. Although we want everyone to have fun, this is a grand ball (probably an expensive ball too), not a club. So have a few drinks but maybe not 30 😜.
